Air Quality Modeler/Scientist

Air Sciences Inc., an equal opportunity employer, has an immediate opening for an air quality modeling scientist in our Portland, Oregon, office. The applicant must be a highly motivated individual with strong programming skills and a scientific/engineering background. This position requires at minimum a BS degree in a scientific or engineering field and a familiarity with atmospheric processes. Tasks will include setting up, troubleshooting, and running numerous air quality dispersion models; processing of meteorological data; performing data analysis and data interpretation; development of spreadsheets and database applications; report and document preparation; and project management. Experience with the regulatory and transportation dispersion models (ISCST, AERMOD, CALPUFF, MOBILE, CAL3HQC and CALINE) is required and familiarity with state and federal air regulations is preferred. The applicant must be proficient in FORTRAN or similar programming language, with Visual Basic and ACCESS database application programming a big plus. Other essential capabilities include the ability to work independently, to communicate effectively (both oral and written), and to consistently produce an accurate and high-quality technical product. Air Quality Scientist (Permitting)

Air Sciences Inc., an equal opportunity employer, has an immediate opening for an air quality professional in our Golden, Colorado, office. The applicant must be a highly motivated individual with at least a BS degree in a scientific or engineering field and 2 to 5 years of work experience as a staff air quality scientist/engineer for an environmental consulting firm or environmental agency. Tasks will include developing emission inventories; conducting quality assurance/quality control reviews, performing analysis and interpretation of environmental data; drafting technical documents; preparing permit compliance forms; researching applicable regulatory requirements; and supporting air quality planning and permitting projects. The applicant must be familiar with stationary source permitting and state and federal air regulations. Experience with regulatory air quality dispersion modeling (AERMOD), GIS, SQL server experience, Visual Basic and ACCESS is a plus. High proficiency with Microsoft software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. Other essential capabilities include the ability to work independently, to communicate effectively (both oral and written), and to consistently produce an accurate and high-quality technical product.
