Permitting and Compliance
Our philosophy is that compliance starts with a thorough
understanding of the facility process and operations,
the air basin status, and regulations, and ends with
well-designed and practical permit and/or compliance
plans.
- Permitting. Air Sciences works closely with
our clients to obtain workable air permits
(e.g., PSD, Title V, Acid Rain, minor, and synthetic
minor permits), which allow for maximum operational
flexibility while ensuring compliance with each applicable
regulation (e.g., BACT, MACT, RACT, CAM, NSPS, NESHAP,
etc.).
- Compliance. Air Sciences has assisted numerous
clients with a variety of compliance issues. These
issues range from resolving violations identified
by the agency or through an Air Sciences audit to
streamlining compliance monitoring, recordkeeping,
and reporting procedures to minimize the burden on
day-to-day operations. Notices of violations do not
have to turn into fines or shutdown orders. We routinely
work with the agency and our clients to develop plans
and schedules to address the violation in a manner
that satisfies the agency and allows production to
continue.
-
Tribal sources. Air Sciences has worked
with over a dozen Indian Tribes to obtain federal
air permits for tribally-owned industrial facilities.
Because Tribes operate under their own government,
not that of the state they are in, they have specific
permitting requirements and circumstances. Our services
also include customized air quality training for
tribal environmental professionals to help each
Tribe develop a self-sustaining Air Quality Program.
